Sales Meetings

Magic as an Inspirational Tool

I have started booking January/February 2018 for Off Site Sales Meetings.

I probably perform for Corporate Groups more than any thing else. I am just comfortable in that environment. It seems to be a great fit for me. Mostly these are multi day events that include meetings, award banquets, and excursions. Attendees need something fun during these type of get togethers. I will often appear more than once at the event. Perhaps I perform some Roving Close Up Magic  at the welcome reception. I often will be the first item on the agenda each morning as an eye opener to get the group going. One one of the evenings I usually perform an after dinner show with my team. We can make any product or person appear by magic as well. Each performance is customized for the client. That makes it really a fun experience for me.

If you would like to talk about the possibilities, please feel free to contact me

Summer Magic

jeff@greatmagic.com

310-251-6004 cell/text

Well we are having a great summer adding a touch of magic to birthday parties (mostly that end in a zero-also some kid’s birthday parties as well).

This past Saturday Night, I had the privilege and joy of causing my Friend/Client Wesley to vanish on stage then soar over Los Angeles, and into outer space.  I had him stand in a cabinet and cover his eyes. My lovely assistants Amy Egbert and Shari Iohara turned the cabinet around and Viola!!! He was gone.  Then a video came up showing Wesley soaring high,  flying thru the air. And because I am magic (grin) I was able to dialogue with him as he enjoyed his flight. We brought him back to earth with almost no injuries to speak of, sent him back to his seat with gratitude, and continued our after dinner show for his 45 carefully selected guests. The idea for this custom magic illusion came from the fact that Wesley actually considered going into orbit for his 50th. (He’s got the money to do it if he wants to). So I explained that because he chose my magic instead of going in to orbit (grin) that this was my special magic gift to him.

The party started at 2:00pm. I performed Roving Close Up Magic for several hours and visited with his guests who came from all over the world. Then after dinner we did our show including 5 Grand Illusions. Really a fun time for everyone, including my team of five.  The take away here is that we really enjoy customizing our magic to serve our clients. So if you would like, we could design a special unique magic epic just for your party.

Weddings

Magic at a Wedding: ♠♣♥♦

.wedding

Here is an email from a wedding that I just performed at in October 2015:

Hello Jeff!

You amazed everyone!  Thank you so much for helping to make our day so special.
We have had so many wonderful comments form our guests about you!  The only thing that would have been better for us is if Eagle and
I had been able to spend some time at the cocktail party!  🙁  Oh well, maybe we should have had you use your magic to make duplicates
of us, so that we could be in two places at once. 🙂   Hey, maybe you should practice that bit of magic and offer that option to other future
brides and grooms!
Our warmest wishes and many thanks,
—————–
It’s always so nice to hear back from my clients. Thank you both for including me in such a special day. I had a wonderful time.
——————

If you are thinking about having me perform for a wedding, there is a really good chance we should just be thinking about Roving Close Up Magic only.  This keeps the magic happening where it should be happening – in the background. Think about it! Many of your guests will have not seen each other in years, even decades in some cases. So that last thing you want to ask of them is to have them sit and watch some guy they do not know for 40 minutes up in front of the group. They want to pinch cheeks, give kisses, and that sort of mushy family stuff. So it’s best if your magician is at any given table for say 5-10 minutes, them moves on. Sure, there will be those at the reception who want to see more magic, and they can request me to come back to their table.  And that is fine. A smart man once said, “The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing”.   Let’s make sure your guests are focused on how the couple found each other, rather than how I found their card.

Exceptions:

  • There have been a few weddings where they talked me into doing an actual show for the group. Here is why: Every single person that was coming to the wedding was a really close friend. All of these people see each other on a regular basis. So there was not that element of having to catch up on family and old friends. So we did a show for them, and they had a great time of it.
  • Another wedding was a pastor’s daughter. She was to be married in the church. The ceremony and the reception were to be held at the church. They were not drinkers. They had lots of pressure with all of the church members looking at them, etc. So for the reception there was a wonderful variety of desserts and coffee. Then they all came back into the sanctuary for the magic show. I custom themed a show where I made both the bride and groom appear in to separate illusions, and the show was customized for the wedding in several other ways. It was a great success.

Bottom line: Nowadays SCUBA divers get married under water, skiers are being towed while they exchange their vows. So hey, it’s your wedding, so if you really want something fun and different at your wedding, it is your choice. I am just speaking in general terms.

Entertainment for an Employee Appreciation Event

I just had a BLAST yesterday doing magic for the employees of erincondren.com. They produce very customized stationary, calendars, life planners, phone covers, etc.  Really great colors. Really fun and inspirational stuff.

On June 9, 2015 they launched their newest product and the employees had been working very hard for the last month or two so they could be ready for the launch. To say thank you the company hired me to perform inspirational magic for the employees. Magic with a message acknowledging the whole team for all of the hard work they had done. We also reviewed the key goals of the company during my performance as fun way to keep everyone on the same page as they move into their 3rd quarter.

At 2:00 in the afternoon, all 90 of the employees were asked to come out to the warehouse. Eric Condren started the program off by saying thank you to all of the team. She then commented that what they do may seem like magic to the customers, but we all know that it’s really a lot of hard work. So celebrate our success, I’d like to introduce you to the most magical man I know, Jeff Parmer.

I performed a 30 minute show for the entire group emphasizing key concepts for the company, then walked around the company offices and performed some of my favorite Roving Close Up Magic for the marketing team up stairs. We really had a fun time together.

So if you are looking for a fun way to acknowledge your employees, your management team, etc, consider my custom scripted magic as a way to not only acknowledge your team, but to inspire them and remind them of what your team goals are as well. If everyone is focused on the same goals and commitments the company will operate with a more healthy efficiency.

Best magic for Grad Nite

If you are considering hiring a magician for a Grad Night here are a few valuable tips.

Make sure that the magician authentically loves being around younger people. If he is a faker, they will be able to see right through it.

Make sure his/her magic is really good. There is nothing worse than a magician who’s magic is so weak that you can see what he is doing. The magic needs to really be powerful if you are going to hold the attention of high schoolers who are up all night.

Make sure your magician is flexible in his/her performance style.

I just performed for the Malibu High Grad Night on Thursday, June 4, 2015. We knew for sure that my Roving Close Up Magic was going to be a good fit. The parents also really liked my Magic Comedy Show, but we all agreed that there would never really be a time at this particular grad nite where we could gather everyone’s attention and have a full on show. So what we did this:  I had my favorite 5 routines from my Magic Comedy Show with me. And when ever the opportunity presented itself, and I had a pretty good crowd around me, I would perform one of these premium routines. I called it “Roving Close Up Magic WITH EXPLOSIONS”.  In this way, I was able to bring the best of my magic, and present it in a way that was flexible to fit the needs of the client in a venue that would not allow a stage show.

They loved it. Here is are two quotes from A.J. Steinberg, event planner at Masquerade Events

The first email was sent to me the next morning at 10:00am:

“Jeff, you were amazing and totally made the evening perfect!   Thanks for the great magic and I look forward to working with you again!
…aj”

Then she sent a second email to me at 4:00 in the afternoon

“Hi Jeff,

I just want to thank you again.   You were the total hit of the party!    All the feedback we got back was raving about you.    Thanks so much!!!!
…aj”

So what is the point of all of this? Magicians, like other vendors can get stuck in a rut as to what services they provide. I could have just told the client that in order to have the premium routines, they would have to have a magic comedy show or else forget it. But by staying FLEXIBLE I was able to give them everything they wanted and make it work for their venue. So make sure that the magician that you are considering is open minded to your situation. That said, we magicians are experts at what makes our magic work. So you should find a nice balance between taking your professional’s advice, and keeping them in check about making sure they are serving your needs, for your event.

This is a very subtle point but I hope it helps you to plan for great magic at your next grad night.

How to hire a great magician

The most important thing to think about is PERSONALITY.  There are many of us magicians out there. We are all probably going to fool you. You are going to wonder how we do the things we do. But the bottom line is this: You need to actually enjoy the experience along the way as you are being fooled.  That’s where personality plays the biggest role.

Personally, I find the self centered, egotistical attitudes of most magicians to be appalling. I enjoy the performers who don’t take them selves too seriously, and are there to create a good time for the people at your event.

Not just INTERESTING, but INTERESTED as well. Maybe if you are lucky, your magician will actually take an interest in the people who are at your event. I think this is important if you are going to be satisfied when all is said and done.

Custom Themed Magic

If you choose to, you can have us customize the magic so that it fits with your theme.

For Example:  During the 2014 Halloween season I performed at Disneyland with a custom themed Halloween Magic Show.

Halloween Magic at Disney

So the magic is still amazing, exciting, engaging, but we make it fit in with what ever is going on with your event.

The shows took place at Big Thunder Ranch, in the Jamboree area.

So by changing some simple things like costumes and backdrops, we can really make the magic fit for your event.

A Custom Themed Magic Show could be the perfect fit for your next event.
